Cold spells and Christmas lights

Last weekend, three things happened:

1. The month changed from November to December. (Much to the chagrin of my students, who are such perfectly trained zombies that when we wrote the date on the board this week they told me it was still November.)

2. We had our first major cold spell. (Winter is coming.)

3. The city FINALLY turned on the Christmas lights. (They’d been appearing incrementally every- and anywhere for about two months now.)

In response, Chez Maurice put up the tree that’s been gathering dust under the stairs and indulged in the season’s first batch of mulled wine.
